Driving a motorhome in Turkey
Motorways and bridges with electronic-only tolls (HGS), a green card to check and border checks.
Motorways, tolls and vignettes
What a vignette is: in some European countries you buy a permit before using the motorways, now often digital and linked to the number plate, valid for a set period instead of paying at toll booths.
On motorways and large bridges, such as those in Istanbul, you cannot pay cash: you need an HGS sticker, linked to the number plate, bought at post offices (PTT) or border crossings and topped up.
Environmental sticker, ZTL and low emission zones
There is no environmental sticker.
Low emission zones in our data
No low emission zones appear in our data. Still check the local rules in the towns where you stop.
Useful rules for motorhome travellers
Check that your green card also covers the Asian part of the country (code TR): some European policies only cover the European part.
The country is not in the European Union: at the border the vehicle is registered on your passport and must leave with you.
Information checked on 30 October 2026. Rules change: always check the official websites before you leave.
